A's Advance, Beat New Ulm

By Nate Tykwinski

The Marshall A's kept their 2011 season alive by beating the New Ulm Brewers 7-5 on Friday night. Brandon Wilhelmi (4-1) went six innings to earn the win.

Chace Pollock had a big night at the plate, hitting a three-run homerun over the left field ivy in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie game. Pollock added a triple and run scored in the seventh inning.

Wilhelmi helped himself with the bat, going 3 for 4 with three runs batted in.

Pollock, Jordon Kontz, Kyle Mathiowetz, and Derek Rignell each had two hits for the A's.

Nate Dickhausen retired the only four batters he faced for the save.

The A's will travel to #1 seed Austin Greyhounds for a best of 3 series over Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night's game is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
