Ben Bartling (1-0) threw 8 impressive innings, striking out 10 Mudhens to get the win for the A's. Bartling issued just 1 walk on the night, while scattering 6 Minneota hits.

After a scoreless top of the first, Marshall would get on the board in the bottom half of the inning. Chace Pollock was hit by a pitch to lead off, and then moved to third on a one out single by Andrew Kinney. Pollock would then come home when Kinney stole second, and the catcher's throw sailed into center field.

The A's pushed their lead to 2-0 in the third inning. Kinney walked, and then moved to third on a Tyler Flattum single. Kinney scored 1 batter later, when Derek Rignell reached on an error.

Kinney made the score 3-0 in the fifth, when he crushed a pitch over the right field ivy for a solo homerun.

The Mudhens were able to break their goose egg in the sixth inning, taking advantage of an error on Pollock to score their first run of the game.

Pollock would make amends for that error in the bottom of the sixth, when he lined a ball to left that got past the diving left fielder. Pollock was able to circle the bases for an inside the park, three run homerun. Tyler Brinka and Andrew Larsen scored on the play.

Ryan Helgeson struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning to finish the game.

Flattum finished the contest with a game high three hits.


Alumni Game - Gold 4, Green 2

Aaron Lindstrom hit a two-run homerun as the Gold beat Green 4-2 in the battle of former Marshall A's and Giants greats. Lindstrom's homer in the second inning broke a 0-0 tie. Mike Gort managed the Gold to the win, while Dallas Klukstal's Green team put together a rally in the final inning, but left the tying run on first.
